    The Italian Kitchen Delivered Meals

The Italian Kitchen Delivered Meals Service, which is funded by the HACC Program, commenced delivery in the Kingborough area on November 9th.  The Italian Kitchen Delivered meals service is delivering meals to HACC eligible clients, who through sickness, age and/or disability cannot reasonably get a meal for themselves.  This service will assist clients to maintain the dignity and independence of living in their own homes.  Eligibility is based on need and there is no means test.  Once a referral has been received it will be followed up with an assessment before the service would commence.

The Italian Kitchen Delivered Meals currently provides a midday meal in the clients home every Tuesday, excluding public Holidays.  The meal is delivered with the assistance of volunteer drivers and helpers between the hours of 11.30 and 1.30 pm.  The meal consists of three courses: soup or pasta, main course, bread roll and fruit. Recipients can receive meals on a long or short-term basis.

Anyone in need of the Italian Kitchen Delivered Meals Service can be referred by doctors, Health Care professionals, other HACC service providers, family, friends or neighbours, or they can request meals themselves.  This can be done by telephoning:

“The Italian Day Centre” on 6234 2443 and ask for Tania.
