A Community Event Profile:
Kingborough Living Library
"don't judge a book by its cover"
The Living Library is based on principles similar to a normal library. The difference being, that instead of borrowing a library book, people can borrow a real person a ‘Living Book’. The reader sits with the living book and in a face to face situation asks questions on the living books chosen subject.
Kingborough Positive Ageing Advisory Committee ran a Living Library project for Seniors Week this year with great success. Over the four two hour sessions our living books were read by 71 individual readers and over 140 Kingborough Primary and High School students.
This project would not have been possible without the great support from the Kingston Library and all its staff, special thanks to library management Mandy Oliver and Kate Shaw.
Kingborough Positive Ageing Advisory Committee are now seeking expressions of interest from the community to form a Living Library working group. A group that will be able to continue this program into the future. If you would like more information please contact Julie on ph:6211 8130.
